Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water before draining.

Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant (about 1 minute). Be careful not to burn!

Add cooked spaghetti to the skillet. Toss to coat. Add pasta water if needed to thin the sauce.

Remove from heat. Stir in Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley. The cheese will melt from the residual heat.

Serve immediately. Garnish with extra parsley and red pepper flakes (optional).
